HOOK: B-32 SYRENA does it again!
Nick Hayes of
Milwaukee, WI, sailing his B-32 SYRENA, tore up the fleet for
the second year running at the 2005 Hook Race. The Hook is 197
miles of racing that starts from the port of Racine, Wisconsin,
on the western shore of Lake Michigan, goes up the coast to
Death's Door, turns the corner and traverses Green Bay to finish
at the western end of the Sturgeon Bay shipping canal.
SYRENA beat a 56 boat fleet to the line and was First-to-Finish,
First in Class, and First Overall...again! Congratulations,
Nick on showing 'em how it's done. Results

Governors Cup 21 in the News!
The GC-21 class is growing! Hull
number 25 arrived this summer on Muskoka Lake in Ontario, Canada.
That brings the total to 5 boats sailing on that picturesque
body of water and there is a Governors Cup 21 Canadian Championship
in the planning stages.
In other GC-21 news, some of the most prestigious and competitive
championships on the west coast were sailed in Governors Cup
21's:
The
39th Governors Cup Challenge
Otherwise known as the United
States International Junior Match Racing Championship, the 2005
39th Governors Cup Challenge was held July 18-23 and hosted
by Balboa
Yacht Club. The Royal Prince Alfred Yacht Club won
the event for the second time running. Nylandska Jatklubben
of Finland and South of Perth Yacht Club took second and third.

2005 Sears Cup
The Sears Cup, also known as the U.S. Triple-handed Championship,
was won by the team from Annapolis Yacht Club. This event was
also graciously hosted by Balboa
Yacht Club August 8-12, 2005. Please visit their

for the Prince of Wales Bowll
Newport
Harbor Yacht Club hosted the U.S. Match Racing Championship
for the Prince of Wales Bowl on September 21-25, 2005. King
Harbor Yacht Club sailed a nearly flawless regatta to win the

Sportster 29 "BEAST" takes Fleet Honors!
The Bravura Sportster 29
"Beast", owned by Dr. & Mrs. Cliff Dummett, won
the prestigious2004 Great Lake Race on Lake Pontchartrain
on September 11. In a fleet including an Andrews 70, Schock
35, J-130, J-120, KIWI 35, Hobie 33 MOD, and 60 other contenders,
the Dummett Bravura Sportster 29 finished "1st in Fleet"

wins 2004 Whidbey Island Race Week!
Scott Taylor's well traveled
B-32, "Defiance" demolished the class and posted the
best overall record at this year's WIRW.

Governor's Cup Championships Held
The 2004 38th Governor's
Cup US Junior Match Racing Championships were held July 19-24
in the waters off Newport Beach, CA. This event is hosted by
the Balboa
Yacht Club. In addition to the 8 US teams, the 38th
GC Challenge saw competitors from Spain, Australia, and New

29 Wins Class in 2004 Newport Race
After a slow start, the 2004 Newport-to-Ensenada Race, held
in late May, turned into a breezy beam reach to the finish.
Eric Kaltenbach's Bravura
Sportster 29, Oooh La La! managed to overcome
the wall of dead air just past the starting line to win the
ULDB -D class. With designer/builder Leif Beiley aboard as tactician
and Steve Lane handling the foredeck, Eric's beautifully prepared
red boat also corrected out over both ULDB-C and B classes -
